Astound to Compete with Comcast in Scranton, Pa., Mayor Says

The proposed agreement with Astound Broadband would give the company three years to build the local cable network at no cost to the city. Astound would be the first cable competitor to Comcast in Scranton.

Recent study on consumer takes on various broadband technologies

Cable has the highest level of internet access (39%). The study found that 3% of consumers do not have a dedicated internet connection at home. Fully 60% of respondents say their home internet is very reliable, but at the same time cite cost as the biggest issue. It is followed by fiber (31%) and FWA (9%).
